A Heroic Act

One of my friends showed me this on Dictator Bietz's blog:
"Some prankster student – I assume – ordered me a subscription of Playboy magazine. I got an invoice at home and at the office. Cynthia noticed the invoice and wondered what was going on. I understand Bill Wohlers got one to. I hope that Playboy understands the prank and doesn’t end up sending the magazine, I would have more explaining to do."
Major props to whoever did this!

Worship

I've already voiced my opinion about the required worships, but I'm really pissed now. I have an unbelievable amount of homework to do, but I need to go to the crappy dorm worships. If they had spiritually (and intellectually) stimulating content, I would enjoy them. Unfortunately, they're plagued with cliches and subpar content. The strongest argument against worship still holds: worship should be a personal choice. Forcing individuals to do anything will undoubtedly cause rebellious feelings to arise. What Would Jesus Do or What Does Bill Wohlers MAKE us Do?

Hypocrisy

I love it how they make you take off LiveStrong bracelets (you know the rubber ones for charity), but then proceed to sell the same thing badged with SAU in the campus shop.

Then they have the audacity to say you can't wear those on campus either because they are also jewelry.

It's the Pinnacle of hypocrisy.

Awesome Music

Even though this doesn't have to do with the sad state of SAU, this is definitely something worth sharing. I found these guys on YouTube rapping about Southern. It's pretty sweet. Check out their other cool songs at purevolume.

The Purpose of This Blog

I'm really excited to see many new contributions. For those who are viewing this blog for the first time, this blog exists for the sole purpose of venting. It provides a non-destructive way for people who are really pissed to let out their anger. Each blog doesn't necessarily reflect the views of the individual contributors. That being said, enjoy!!!!

disrespectful attitude

Ok, I hate the way that most of the administration and deans at this school treat the students like they are 12 years old. We are adults and though respect must be earned, disrespect should not be given universally to anyone who has not yet had the opportunity to earn respect. When I was a freshman here I asked the dean to sign a late leave for me because I wanted to go play ROOK with a good friend of mine who lives near by. When it came time for the dean to sign the slip for me he refused. When I asked why he responded, "I don't believe that you are going to your friends house to play rook." Now this was the first time that I had ever even seen this dean in my life, and I had (at that point) never broken any of Southern's rules. However the dean in his superior wisdom deduced that I wanted to go party and get drunk or some such thing, which was a load of crap. So for the first time here at SAU I broke a rule and snuck out TO GO PLAY ROOK at my friends house and spent the night there. That deans condescending attitude led me to break a rule that I had no intention of breaking, whereas if he had treated me as an equal, man to man, I would have gone and played rook, and spent the rest of the night here in the dorm. This is just one of many times that me and friends of mine have been treated in such an infantile way and it is the most dominant reason for me to not come back here next year.

New Game!

I hope you enjoy the new game! It's to help with parking at Southern's horrible parking lots!

Joe Stratte

This douche-bag is an assistant dean in Talge Hall. He is always getting on to people and acting really mad at them. His favorite activities include getting on to village students for leaving the dorm past curfew, threatening to confiscate speakers, and giving out minors to people that have good excuses. He doesn't at all look like the type of guy that would raise his voice at you, but he is.

Are you pissed?

Welcome to SAUsux!!! This blog is dedicated to providing a healthy outlet for the seemingly endless anger that can accumulate at SAU. If want to contribute to this blog, reply to this post and I will add you as an author. Let the world know that Southern Adventist University sucks!!

I freaking hate SAU's BANDWIDTH LIMIT

NO WONDER WE HAVE TO STEAL EVERYTHING OF THE NET WORK. SOUTHERN'S STUPID ATTEMPT TO STOP BIT TORENTS. I WAS WATCHING A SHOW ON FOX AND IT KICKED ME OFF.

The Oppresive Regulations of Southern Adventist University

The numerous arbitrary and oppresive rules enforced here at SAU really piss me off.
To list a few:
  1. In the new Wellness Center, sleeveless shirts are not allowed. Despite a prime view of shirtless men at the pool, the academic staff believes that sleeveless shirts on the gym floor promote "unchristian" values.
  2. Although mustard and pepper are not provided at any of the food venues, these items are sold at the Village Market (proudly owned and operated by SAU). This regulation is traced to literal, out-of-context interpretations of Ellen White's writings. Although the majority of the faculty do not believe in literal interpretation, the wealthy benefactors of the university do.
  3. Beyond trivialities, Southern Adventist University stifles spiritual maturation. Instead of providing opportunities for students to formulate ideas themselves, ideas are indoctrinated through propaganda in required worships. If the University wants to uphold its supposed commitment to spiritual growth, they must give room for growth.
So why would these seemingly obvious regulations still be in effect? The wealthy benefactors of the school (McKee, Hulsey, etc.) ensure that these regulations are implemented. As a result, the administrators of this school are nothing more than puppets. They are not concerned with the well being of the students.
